Alhambra : School Centennial Events
Students at all 13 elementary schools in Alhambra will release balloons at 11 a.m. Friday to celebrate the Alhambra School District’s centennial. About 10,000 balloons will be sent skyward, with each student being given one balloon to release. Parents and community leaders will mark the anniversary at a community reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at the Lincoln Plaza hotel in Monterey Park.
The Alhambra School District was founded in 1886, when 19 pupils began attending classes on the second floor of a livery stable at Chapel Avenue and Beacon Street.
