Countywide : MWD Rate Hike Likely to Raise Bills $3 a Year

Share

The Metropolitan Water District has announced rate increases that should hike the average household water bill about $3 a year.

The MWD supplies treated and untreated water wholesale to local water agencies in Orange and five other Southern California counties. Consequently, the exact household bill increase will be determined by the local water districts, which distribute the water to customers, said MWD spokesman Tim Skrove.

The MWD increases are $6 an acre-foot for treated water and $5 an acre-foot for untreated water, Skrove said. The average household uses about half an acre-foot per year, Skrove said.
