Gunman Slays Santa Ana Man Inside His Home

A 24-year-old Santa Ana man was shot to death in his home in the 200 block of South Oak Street on Tuesday afternoon by an intruder who knocked on the door and then pulled out a gun upon entering the house, a Santa Ana police spokesman said.

The victim, Juan Bracamontes, was dead on arrival at the Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.

Police said Bracamontes, his brother and a friend, whose names were not released, were just sitting down to eat when they heard the knock. After the gunman ordered Bracamontes to back up at gunpoint, the brother and friend fled from the house in opposite directions. They later told police they heard two to three gunshots. They returned to the house after a short time to find Bracamontes lying on the floor.
