College Tennis : Amerlinck Leads Chapman Victory

Olivier Amerlinck, No. 3 singles player for the Chapman College men’s tennis team, won his 12th straight match Tuesday, defeating Cal State Northridge’s Kevin Feinbloom, 7-6, 6-2, to help the Panthers defeat the Matadors, 6-3, in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. match at Northridge.

Chapman, the nation’s No. 1-ranked, Division II team, is 7-0 in conference and 13-4 overall.

In community college men’s action:

Saddleback 8, Cypress 1--Grant Hein won his No. 3 singles match and teamed with Dana Bozeman to win a No. 2 doubles match for the Gauchos in a South Coast Conference match at Cypress College. Saddleback is to 7-0 in conference.

In community college women’s action:

Fullerton 6, Golden West 3--The Rustlers’ No. 1 doubles team of Terri Johnson and Val Spinosa handed Nicole Brechttuhl and Michelle Ponce their first loss of the season, 7-5, 0-6, 6-3, but the Hornets still won the South Coast Conference match at Golden West College. Fullerton improves to 7-0 in conference, 11-0 overall, while Golden West drops to 6-3 and 9-3.
