Culver City : Traffic Barrier Removed

Share

In response to numerous complaints from angry residents in the area, the City Council voted Monday to remove a temporary traffic barrier at the corner of Sawtelle Boulevard and McDonald Street. The barrier was installed three weeks ago as part of a study of traffic conditions in the neighborhood. It was diverting cars to Woolford Street or Port Road.

The city staff maintains that a permanent traffic control will be needed at the intersection once the city of Los Angeles rebuilds Sawtelle Boulevard Bridge, which will obstruct the view of oncoming traffic from motorists traveling on McDonald. Several serious accidents have occurred on McDonald, which is heavily travelled as an alternative to Jefferson Boulevard.

A public meeting will be scheduled later.
