Top-seeded Ivan Lendl eliminated unseeded Eliot Teltscher, 6-4, 6-2, Thursday in the second round of the $315,000 Paine Webber tournament at Sanibel Harbour Resort in Fort Myers, Fla.
Later, second-seeded Jimmy Connors overcame first-set difficulties to beat John Lloyd of Great Britain, 7-5, 6-2.
In other matches, Ecuador’s Andres Gomez eliminated Aaron Krickstein, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 6-4, and wild-card entrant Todd Witsken upset seventh-seeded Jimmy Arias, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
West Germany’s Steffi Graf rallied from near-defeat and top-seeded Martina Navratilova shook off her mid-match blahs to advance into the semifinals of the $500,000 Virginia Slims Championships at New York.
Graf, seeded third in the 16-woman event, came from behind to oust Pam Shriver, 4-6, 7-6, 6-3, while Navratilova eliminated unseeded Bonnie Gadusek, 6-3, 6-4.
Australian giant-killer Broderick Dyke continued his winning ways, outlasting Czechoslovakia’s Libor Pimek, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, to reach the quarterfinals of the $315,000 Belgian Indoor Championships.
Dyke, ranked 109th in the world, had upset Wimbledon champion Boris Becker of West Germany on Wednesday.
