Even though a Calendar reporter sneaked into last year’s Oscar rehearsal without credentials (and wrote about it), security director Jerry Moon told Outtakes that there’re no significant changes for this year.

“It’s going to happen,” said Moon of Calendar’s excursion past several guarded checkpoints. “Those are one of the lesser irritants. Our primary concern is to maintain a safe environment, to keep it from being an armed camp.”

He added that “there are always a few trendy things we try to prepare for,” such as the 1974 streaker and the imposter at last September’s Emmys, who accepted (falsely) for Betty Thomas.

Including parking attendants, nearly 1,000 hired personnel will be inside and outside the Pavilion--but only “about half” will be true security people. That will include members of the LAPD, CHP, Sheriff’s Department, private security companies, the State Police if the governor attends (“We won’t know until the last moment”), and Secret Service agents trailing Ron Reagan, who will cover for ABC.
