OCEANSIDE — A man was killed here late Friday when he lost control of his car, which plunged down a ravine and caught fire, police reported.
Dead in the accident was Kenneth Edward Korzynski, a 31-year-old janitor who worked at Ocean Hill Country Club, according to the county coroner’s office.
A security guard, Timothy Jones, who was working at Leisure Village, heard the accident and ran to the bottom of the ravine in the 3400 block of Cannon Road. He tried to pull Korzynski out of the wreckage but was unable to do so because of the fire.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, but the coroner’s office said it’s believed Korzynski’s was speeding and that the car’s brakes failed.
