Youth Stabbed to Death in Hollywood Street Brawl

An 18-year-old youth was fatally stabbed and a 17-year-old companion was critically injured during a street brawl late Saturday on Hollywood Boulevard.

Sgt. John Zrofsky of the Hollywood Division said a dozen youths from two cruising cars began brawling at about 11 p.m. after throwing bottles at each other while driving in the 6400 block of the boulevard. Zrofsky said it was not known whether the youths who were stabbed were in the cars or bystanders drawn into the melee.

Both youths, whose names were being withheld pending notification of their families, were taken to Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, where the 18-year-old died. The 17-year-old was reported in critical condition.
