N. Hollywood Couple Killed; Son Turns Self In
A 55-year-old North Hollywood man turned himself in to police Sunday after allegedly bludgeoning to death his mother and stepfather, Los Angeles police said.
John Frederick La Rou walked into the North Hollywood Division station at 10:30 a.m. and told police, “I think I killed my stepfather,” Detective Howard Landgren said.
Police found the bodies of Sam Unger, 75, La Rou’s stepfather, and Jeannette Unger, 73, his mother, at their apartment in the 5700 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard. Both had apparently been beaten to death. Police said La Rou lived with his parents at the apartment.
Nothing in the apartment was disturbed, and police know of no motive for the slayings, Landgren said.
La Rou was being held without bail on suspicion of murder, police said.
