Youth Art Day Turns Into African Adventure

Share

Children got a taste of Africa in Irvine on Saturday during the sixth annual Youth Art Day held by the Irvine Fine Arts Center in Heritage Park.

“The Art Safari” was this year’s theme for the event, which is held to celebrate National Youth Art Month. Children participated in safari-themed workshops, including “Water Buffalo Watercolor,” “Paw Prints Printmaking,” “African Maskmaking” and “Monkey Face Painting.”

They also watched films on African wildlife, saw a student art exhibit titled “Birds, Bugs and Other Flying Things” and were treated to a puppet show by Jim Gamble and a children’s play by the Lilliput Players.
