Bell : Cable Measures Advance

Share

The Bell-Cudahy Cable Television Commission last week approved the first reading of two ordinances designed to bring cable viewing to the two cities.

One ordinance establishes the rules for cable television in Bell and Cudahy. The other awards an exclusive franchise to Masada Corp., based in Birmingham, Ala.

The commission was formed last year after unsuccessful attempts by both cities to attract a franchise.

If approved on the second readings, which were scheduled for March 26, the ordinances will go into effect 30 days later. The cable television system should be in place six to nine months from that date, according to commission officials.
