Maywood : Shopping Center Pact
The City Council adopted an agreement Tuesday for a proposed shopping center at the northeast corner of Slauson Avenue and Atlantic Boulevard, one of the city’s busier intersections.
The disposition and development agreement between Watson & Associates, based in Seal Beach, and Maywood calls for the firm to develop a 1.5-acre center with 15 to 20 stores and a Wendy’s hamburger restaurant. The project, the latest in the city’s redevelopment efforts, will be worth about $4 million, said Ron Lindsey, building and planning director.
The city will help the developer with property acquisition, which should be complete by June, Lindsey said. The center should be complete about six months after that.
