A teen-age girl in Paramount ran over a gas line while backing a car out of a garage, sparking an explosion and fire that injured a paramedic and a neighbor, authorities said. The fire caused $95,000 damage to the home in the 15500 block of Virginia Avenue, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Roxanna Schuchman, but the girl, 14, was not injured. A neighbor, Joe Lopez, 34, suffered second- and third-degree burns on both arms when he tried to shut off the flow of gas, Schuchman said. He was in guarded condition at Charter Suburban Hospital. The paramedic, Lawrence Poster, 29, suffered first- and second-degree burns trying to turn off the gas.
