Striking Filipino workers barricading this U.S. base stoned a bus carrying Americans to work today. Talks between U.S. officials and strike leaders failed to reach agreement to lift the barricade or to end the week-old strike.

No one was injured in the stoning. Clark officials said it occurred when a U.S. Air Force bus traveling from Angeles City outside Clark to nearby Camp O’Donnell air station passed the pickets at Clark. The strike over greater severance pay involves 22,000 Filipino workers at Clark, Subic Naval Base and six smaller U.S. installations.
