Marshall Earl Turley, 76, a longtime export manager for U.S. companies doing business in South America, died Tuesday at South Coast Medical Center in South Laguna.
The youngest of 10 children, Mississippi-born Turley was the only one to finish high school. Working 60 hours a week, he pursued his education at the University of Denver and the University of Colorado before entering the export business.
As an international salesman for Butler Manufacturing of Kansas City, Mo., Turley developed grain storage plants in Venezuela. From 1952 to 1962 he headed the Brazilian operations of Warner Lambert, the pharmaceutical giant. He then became Latin America manager for International Latex Corp., opening subsidiaries in Argentina and Colombia.
Turley moved to California in 1966 and opened a health-food store. A resident of Dana Point, he had many friends in Southland duplicate bridge circles.
Last rites are being arranged by his son, Marshall Frost of Vermont, and daughter, Anne of Oakland.
