Ham Drives in Seven Runs in Fullerton’s 15-2 Victory

Cal State Fullerton reserve catcher Mike Ham went 4 for 6 with seven RBIs Sunday to lead the 11th-ranked Titans to a 15-2 win over Cal State Long Beach in Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. baseball game at Long Beach.

The win gave Fullerton (3-0 in PCAA, 23-9 overall) a three-game sweep of the weekend series with Long Beach (0-3, 8-16-1). The Titans outscored Long Beach 33-8 in the three games.

On Sunday, Fullerton chased 49er starter Brian Leonard (0-4) with three runs in the first inning and four in the third. Pat Garman went 4 for 6 with two RBIs and Al Stankiewicz went 4 for 5 and scored two runs for Fullerton.

First-string catcher John Eccles, who started Sunday as designated hitter, added two doubles for Fullerton, which had 20 hits.

Jim Halley (5-1) struck out eight in seven innings for the win.

Chapman College will play at Fullerton Tuesday night, then the Titans will play at USC Wednesday.

Fullerton will play host to PCAA rival Nevada Las Vegas in a three-game series beginning Friday.
