A former Hughes Aircraft Co. engineer pleaded guilty in Los Angeles federal court to charges that he pocketed $22,900 from inflated expense claims billed to the government. Michael Guiliano, 39, of Redondo Beach, was charged two weeks ago with defrauding the government by inflating the amounts on 600 expense vouchers he submitted between 1981 and 1984 as an engineer with Hughes’ space and communications division in El Segundo. He pleaded guilty to two counts of making false claims against the government. Each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
