An East San Diego man was arrested early Friday after a police SWAT detail responded to a call of a man shooting from the doorway of his apartment building, police said.
Godfrey Lecoq, 57, surrendered without incident at his apartment house on the 4100 block of 52nd Street after a three-hour period during which the SWAT team and police negotiators tried to talk him into giving himself up, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
Police recovered a handgun from Lecoq’s apartment, Robinson said. No shots were fired while police were on the scene.
Lecoq was booked at the County Jail downtown on charges of shooting a gun within the city limits.
