HE EATS A WHOPPER . . . AND LIVES!
Burger King’s intrepid nerd Herb didn’t die after all with his ad campaign.
Actor Jon Menick has re-signed with Burger King to continue as Herb, but this time as spokesman for a to-be-revealed charitable organization that helps children.
“Even if negotiations with the organization fall through, we still get calls every day from groups that want to have Herb at their function,” said a Burger King marketing exec.
Consensus in the ad biz is that the $40-million Herb campaign was less than successful: The company realized only a non-whopping 1% increase in biz during its four-month run.
But Menick told us that the role’s paid off: “Doors are open to me now that were never open before.”
Well, maybe not the biggest doors: Menick’s next appearance will be tomorrow at “Wrestlemania II” in New York--as the “celebrity time keeper.”
