A small earthquake was felt late Friday night over a wide area of Orange County.
Police agencies in several cities reported dozens of calls, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
A preliminary reading by seismologists at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena put the 10:50 p.m. quake at 3.8 on the open-ended Richter scale. Caltech geologist Steve Bryant said the epicenter was believed to be five miles north of Huntington Beach.
The temblor was felt “pretty strongly” in Los Alamitos, according to Police Sgt. Terry McCarthy.
Police and fire departments in Orange, Costa Mesa and Westminster also reported getting calls about the quake.
