Chong Fights Curto in IBF Title Bout

Chong Pal Park of South Korea, the International Boxing Federation super-middleweight champion, will defend his title against Vinnie Curto of Miami Beach in a Scheduled 15-round bout Friday night at 8 at the Sports Arena. It will be Chong’s first fight in the United States. Chong is 43-3 with 37 knockouts.

Curto, 29, is 79-6-3. He has been fighting since 1972, when he was 14. He said he lied about his age in order to qualify as a pro.

Also on Friday night’s card are a 10-round super-middleweight bout between Lindell Holmes of Detroit and James (Buddy) McGrit of Brentwood, N.Y., and a four-rounder between actor John Diehl who plays detective Larry Zito on “Miami Vice,” and Gene Holly. Diehl is 1-0 as a pro, Holly 0-2.
