A Brea metal-plating firm has been charged with repeated illegal dumping of toxic chemical solutions into sewers in what authorities said was the toughest enforcement action yet against Orange County industrial polluters. The district attorney’s office and the Orange County Sanitation Districts are seeking civil penalties of $266,000 against Bristol Industries and its president, Frank Claus, for violating state hazardous waste disposal laws and sanitation district discharge requirements for the so-called “batch dumping” of excessive amounts of heavy metals on three days in January and February.
