A man who allegedly stole a young woman’s purse on Friday turned himself into police Tuesday after suffering pangs of conscience over the weekend.

David Charles Wells, 25, of San Diego, turned himself in at the downtown station, said police spokesman Bill Robinson.

The purse-snatching occurred Friday morning when a young woman had just left work at a Taco Bell restaurant, near 50th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. She was driving to a bank with receipts from the restaurant cash register when Wells allegedly reached through her car window and grabbed her purse, Robinson said. The purse contained $370 in cash and jewelry.
