J.W.R. Pratt has been named a senior vice president of Safeway Stores, Oakland. Pratt, the former chairman and managing director of Australian Safeway Ltd., is now chairman and managing director of Stanley Park Pty. Ltd., the wholly owned Safeway subsidiary that controls the company’s 20% interest in Woolworths Ltd. of Australia. Safeway sold its 124 Australian stores to Woolworths last August in exchange for an equity position in the restructured company.
