Walton Is Good Choice, but Then So Is Cooper

Share

In Thomas Bonk’s NBA column of April 1, he picked his all-star teams and best sixth man. His opinion that Bill Walton is the best sixth man is one thing, but his follow-up statement that “there’s no one else” is absurd. An excellent case can be made for Michael Cooper who averages nearly 10 minutes more per game than Walton, is among the league’s top three-point shooters, plays three different positions, and is on the NBA’s all-defensive team year after year.

In addition, Bonk’s inclusion of Kevin McHale on the second team ahead of both Alex English and Charles Barkley suggests that he would be more suited to writing columns for the Boston Globe than the Los Angeles Times.
