An Ontario youth was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving early Saturday after a fiery two-car collision that injured him, the other driver and four passengers.

A spokesman for the California Highway Patrol said the arrested driver, Erik Deresa, 18, was taken to Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo with serious injuries. Deresa had three teen-age girls and one teen-age boy in the car he was driving, the CHP spokesman said. Mission Community Hospital said that Deresa and one of the girls remained in serious condition Saturday.

The driver of the other car, a 17-year-old male, suffered moderate injuries, the CHP said.

The CHP said Deresa was driving east on Crown Valley Parkway at about 60 m.p.h. when he ran a red light and slammed broadside into a car that was southbound on Marguerite Parkway at 1:15 a.m. Saturday. Both cars caught fire and bystanders pulled passengers from Deresa’s car.
