Adlai Stevenson Hurts Back in Horse Accident

HANOVER, Ill. — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Adlai E. Stevenson III is being treated for a fracture of the vertebra suffered when he was thrown from a horse at his farm, an aide said Monday.
Stevenson, 55, who suffered the injury Sunday, was reported in good condition. A campaign spokesman said Stevenson’s wife, Nancy, will campaign for him during his recuperation, which is expected to take several weeks.
