Two Claremont residents and a Whittier man were arrested this week at the Covina office of Rep. David Dreier (R-La Verne) during a protest against aid to Nicaraguan guerrillas, known as contras .

Ruthann Miller, 51, and Jack Nounnan, 54, both of Claremont, and Robert England, 28, of Whittier were booked by Covina police on Monday for trespassing, Sgt. Jim Barkley said. A spokesman for Rep. Dreier in Washington said that no charges were pressed.

Miller, chairman of the bail fund for Central American refugees at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Claremont and co-director of the Interfaith Peace Center in La Verne, said that about 60 people gathered to protest legislation that would provide military assistance to the Nicaraguan rebels.

The three demonstrators were arrested when they refused to leave the building shortly after the 6 p.m. closing time, Barkley said.
