Ex-Substitute Teacher Jailed for Sex Remarks

Share

A former substitute teacher accused of making sexually suggestive comments to three female students was sentenced Wednesday to 15 days in jail.

Blyden Loutensock, 33, of North Hollywood also had to give up his teaching credentials and was barred from receiving teaching credentials in the future after he pleaded no contest to contributing to the delinquency of a minor. During a three-year probationary period imposed by San Fernando Municipal Court Commissioner Charles Peven, Loutensock is not to be with anyone under 18 years old without another adult present.

The case against Loutensock stemmed from incidents involving two 16-year-old students at Sylmar High School in September and October, and a 15-year-old student at San Fernando Junior High School in June, City Atty. James K. Hahn said.

“The evidence showed that Loutensock made various sexually suggestive comments to all three students and that he wrote sexually explicit letters to one of the 16-year-old girls,” a written statement from Hahn said.

Loutensock had been employed by the Los Angeles Unified School District as a substitute life science teacher for nearly four years before his arrest Feb. 5, said the statement. He has since resigned.
