An employee of Carnation International in Los Angeles shot two co-workers during a dispute in the company mail room, then killed himself, police said. The gunman, Allen Escalera, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Police Sgt. Wayne Horton. In stable condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center were Albert Ibbotson, 24, a duplicating machine operator who was shot in the chest, and Jose Lopez, 23, a mail clerk, wounded in the left thigh. Horton said Escalera had been arguing with the two men in the mail room in the basement of the building in the 5000 block of Wilshire Boulevard. A Carnation employee, who asked not to be identified, said Escalera had worked for several years in the mailroom. “He was a gentle person,” the employee said. “He was really sweet.”
