Vet Hospital Fire Kills 5 Horses
Four racehorses and a show horse, valued at about $100,000, were killed early today by a fire that swept through an animal hospital near Los Alamitos race track in Cypress, Orange County firemen said.
Forty firefighters fought the blaze at the Equine Medical Center for more than an hour. Arson investigators could not immediately determine the cause of the 3 a.m. blaze that gutted the one-story facility. Damage was estimated at $700,000 to the building and its contents.
