Rams Trade Rights to Greer to Browns

The Rams Friday traded their National Football League rights to wide receiver Terry Greer to the Cleveland Browns, getting the Browns’ fourth-round choice in the draft April 29.

A source said the Browns had offered Greer a four-year, guaranteed, no-trade contract worth $1.4 million, including a $225,000 bonus. The Rams could have retained rights by matching the offer but chose to trade Greer, instead.

Greer, from Alabama State, was drafted by the Rams in the 10th round in 1980 but played the next six seasons for Toronto in the Canadian Football League. He was twice All-CFL and in 1983 set a league record with 113 receptions for 2,003 yards.
