Trouble on Home Front

Jean Vallely's review of "Home Front" was right on target. Patti Davis' novel is a disservice to the "Canfields," who, according to her, were deeply superficial and heartless as parents to their loving daughter Beth. My interest was ignited by the fact that I first met "Canfield" in 1965, when he was the host of a popular anthology TV series. At that time, I was associate producer of a minor TV production about animal actors which Jack Warner Jr. was producing.

On this day of taping, a scheduled guest star became a no-show because we couldn't service him with a limo and driver. Canfield, at a nearby studio, heard our Mayday call and responded by rushing over and taping a terrific pitch on behalf of Kindness to Animals, proving again there's no people like show people.
