Fullerton : City Plans a One-Night Celebration of the Arts

The city’s annual “A Night in Fullerton” promises to be a celebration of the arts Friday, featuring free music, exhibits, drama and dance programs at 14 locations throughout the community.

The events will run continuously from 7 to 11 p.m., with free bus transportation available to all sites. Among the events:

Cal State Fullerton, 800 N. State College Blvd., will be host to a “Jazz Fest” featuring concerts by the Jazz Ensemble, along with an exhibit of cast glass sculpture.

Common Ground Multimedia Art Gallery, 509 N. Harbor Blvd., will offer an exhibit by gallery members.

The Eileen Kremen Gallery, 619 N. Harbor Blvd., will feature works of 14 artists and music by the Orange Empire Chorus Barbershop Quartet.

Fullerton Civic Light Opera, 218 W. Commonwealth Ave., will present excerpts from popular Broadway musicals, exhibits of theater costumes, scenery and props.

Fullerton College, 321 E. Chapman Ave., will display portrait sculpture, silk painting, performances by dance students, a photography slide show and display of famous front pages from newspapers.

First Christian Church, 109 E. Wilshire Ave., will present concerts of popular music by the Fullerton College Community Band.

Fullerton Public Library, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave., will be the site of puppetry and storytelling, as well as exhibits of contemporary American Indian collectibles.

Hunt Branch Library, 201 S. Basque Ave., will exhibit drawings and paintings. There will also be a variety of music shows, including songs from the 1940s and Dixieland music by Fullerton College’s award-winning Lemon Street Stompers.

The Edge Gallery, 212 N. Harbor Blvd., will display wors by local artists.

Gallery 57, 204 N. Harbor Blvd., will have an exhibit of formal figurative paintings.

Muckenthaler Cultural Center, 1201 W. Malvern Ave., will present a juried exhibit of sculpture and paintings.

Pacific Christian College, 2500 E. Nutwood Ave., will offer Christian music and dramatic presentations and video art demonstrations.

Patrick’s Musician, 1969 Sunny Crest Drive, will present popular, flamenco, jazz and classical music performances.

Zarbano Gallery, 202 N. Harbor Blvd., will exhibit oil paintings and monoprints.
