Driver Sails Over Tree-Tops in Crash
A motorist who raced along a West German autobahn at 125 m.p.h. had a lucky escape when his sports car hit a crash barrier and sailed over nearby tree-tops, police said Monday.
The Greek driver clambered from the wreckage when his car crash-landed in a wood and disappeared. He reported to the police 12 hours later--bruised, cut and saying he had fled because he was terrified that the vehicle would explode.
The car sliced the tops off several 36-foot-high trees when it plowed through the crash barrier and sailed over a steep, wooded slope by the side of the motorway near Bonn.
