Torrance : Job Training Approved
The City Council has approved five separate contracts totaling $433,375 in federal Job Training Partnership Act money to train 784 economically disadvantaged residents in Torrance, Carson and Lomita.
The council also appropriated $122,000 to construct a segment of the Crenshaw Boulevard bikeway between Skypark Drive and Airport Drive and said it will allow organizations in eight categories to submit nominations for appointment to the city cable Television Advisory Board.
The categories are business, community cable producers, higher education, secondary and elementary education, the arts, health services, senior citizens and nonprofit organizations.
