A Genuine Gain

Share

Some people will consider that moving the clock ahead 60 minutes today means losing an hour they will not get back until next fall. But for most, it’s a clear and immediate gain.

For the youngsters, the ritual of Daylight Savings Time gains an hour of daylight and play each day. It means leaving work with enough daylight left to prepare a backyard barbecue, get in a few holes of golf or watch the sky change colors as the sun disappears into the Pacific.

It will stay lighter longer. And that opens up a world of opportunities to seek and enjoy before we get back that hour of darkness next fall. Now that’s a loss.
