A 64-year-old San Clemente woman won $50,000 in the California Lottery’s “Big Spin.” Irene Cocchiara, the only Orange County contestant in this week’s spin, was one of 15 people who got a chance to spin the lottery wheel. Although a woman from Weed, in Northern California, won a $1-million award, nobody landed the progressive jackpot, which will begin at $9.305 million next week. The grand prize increases by $300,000 each time someone wins a smaller amount. There have been 97 spinners since the last grand prize winner, Rose Albrecht of Banning, won $4.6 million on March 22. The largest prize winner yet is Danny Wedgeworth, 24, of Santa Maria, who won $6.38 million on March 15. Forty people have won $1-million prizes since the contest began last October.
