Irvine : Investigation Continues in Murder of Woman
A woman in her 20s, whose body was found by a realtor in a house that had been listed for sale, died from blunt force trauma to the head, a police spokesman said Tuesday night.
Although police would not release the woman’s name pending notification of relatives, “she appears to be the daughter of the people who own the house” at 13 Encina, Police Sgt. Scott Cade said.
The woman’s body was found Monday evening, and the autopsy was completed late Tuesday, Cade added.
Investigation of the murder, Irvine’s first in 1986, is continuing. Lt. Al Muir said there were two murders in Irvine in 1985 and one in 1984.
The house where the woman was found had been listed for sale with two different agencies and had a “key box” on the door with the house key inside. A number of real estate agents in the area could have had access to the home, whose owners are currently in Mexico, Muir said.
Muir would not comment on whether the house had been broken into or if there were witnesses to the incident.
