Pomona : Petitioners Want City Audit

Share

The Pomona Concerned Citizens Committee is beginning a petition drive to force a yearly financial report and an independent audit of the city, chairman Sarah Ross announced. The community group, which needs about 4,000 signatures to qualify the Charter amendment for the November ballot, states that its goals are “to re-establish fiscal integrity in the city of Pomona and make our government officials more fiscally responsible.”

The measure would require the city to publish a yearly financial report detailing its budget, all financial transactions, all institutions with which the city has maintained accounts, all contractors who received payments and a list of all property held by the city. In addition, the amendment would require that “a recognized firm of certified public accountants” with no connection to the city be hired to perform a yearly audit.
