La Jollan Named SDSU Alumnus of the Year
La Jolla financier Leon Parma has been named San Diego State University’s 1986 Distinguished Alumnus of the College of Arts and Letters.
Parma chaired the task force that secured Super Bowl 1988 for San Diego and is heading another group trying to bring a National Basketball Assn. team here.
After graduating in 1951 with a double major in economics and political science, Parma went on to establish himself in banking, real estate and broadcasting and in politics and civic activities.
Also being honored at the Ninth Annual Alumni Awards Gala at the U.S. Grant Hotel May 24 will be S. Donley Ritchey, SDSU’s Alumnus of the Year, and seven other distinguished alumni.
