Ousted Principal in Moorpark

Share

In the past several years we have watched the quality of education steadily improve in Moorpark. The high school especially has shown impressive progress since Mary Quirk became its principal. The whole atmosphere has become a positive one. New programs have been set up, students have taken more pride in their school and themselves. Test scores are up too, but most of all they are learning to think for themselves as they endeavor to become adults.

The majority of teachers believe Mary Quirk is doing a fine job, as do the students and a majority of parents. The school board has shown total disregard for each of these groups in their recent decision to remove her as principal. They haven’t given a reason to the public or more importantly to Mrs. Quirk. The school board no doubt has been ill advised by the new superintendent. The school board is supposed to represent the people who elected them, not a man who just moved into the community. We will all have to live with their mistakes after he moves on to a better job. Will the school board get away with these actions? Who knows what they will do next?
