Anaheim : Views on Street Vendors Due at Hearing Tonight

Share

Residents interested in the city’s law affecting street vendors can voice their opinions at a public hearing tonight.

A group of street vendors barred from hawking their fresh vegetables, fruits and ice cream in Anaheim’s apartment areas are requesting that the city change its policy. The vendors, who cater to predominantly Latino areas, have offered compromises in exchange for being allowed to sell in apartment zones.

Opposing the vendors are residents who say the vendors create too much noise and litter.

To give both sides an opportunity to attend a public hearing, the City Council, which typically meets from Tuesday morning until the late afternoon, scheduled a special hearing beginning at 7 p.m. in the Anaheim Civic Center, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
