P. V. Estates : Curb on Sports Courts
The City Council this week introduced an ordinance banning construction of sports courts, such as tennis and racquetball facilities, until the Planning Commission and council can review existing construction guidelines.
The ordinance becomes effective in six weeks.
Mayor Ruth Gralow said the council will review current guidelines that allow for “excessive” lot coverage by courts and will evaluate the types of screening used to obscure them from public view.
She said the council also wishes to consider the impact of new courts on development of adjoining property and on storm drains, and will analyze the wear of construction equipment on streets.
