Airport Signs

Share

A letter on this page Wednesday from Johnnie L. Cochran Jr., president of the Board of Airport Commissioners, said that our proposal to put signs on the roads to LAX telling people which airlines are in which terminals is impractical. He said that the best way for people on their way to the airport to find out is to tune to 530 on the AM radio dial.

In that case, the commissioners should put up signs saying so. At the moment, the signs on Century Boulevard and the 405 freeway just say, “530 Radio, Airport Info,” and many people think that they’ll hear only parking and traffic information. The signs should say, “For airline locations, tune to 530 radio.” The goal is to make it possible for drivers to know which terminal they want when they enter the airport. Providing that information by radio is fine, but drivers need to know that it’s available.
