No surprise here.

For the second straight season and the sixth time in his seven Major Indoor Soccer League seasons, Tacoma forward Steve Zungul was voted the league’s most valuable player.

But it sure was close.

Zungul edged Wichita forward Erik Rasmussen, 9-8, in voting by members of the media.

Socker midfielder Branko Segota received four votes, and Pittsburgh goalkeeper David Brcic, Cleveland forward Craig Allen and Dallas forward Tatu received one each. The award is based on regular-season performances.

Zungul also beat Rasmussen to win his sixth MISL scoring title this season. Zungul had 55 goals and 60 assists for 115 points, and Rasmussen had a league-high 67 goals and 41 assists for 108 points.
