A busboy, two waitresses, a chef and a customer of a La Jolla restaurant were arrested on suspicion of possession and sale of cocaine Thursday night, San Diego police reported.

After a monthlong investigation, San Diego vice unit officers arrested four employees at The Spot, 1005 Prospect St., about 6:30 p.m., a police spokesman said.

Waitresses Jamie T. Howell, 22, of San Diego and Lori Ann Stagliano, 22, of La Mesa; busboy Florentino P. Penaloza, 32, of San Diego, and customer Tim J. Block, 23, of San Diego, were arrested on suspicion of selling a controlled substance. Block is a bartender at a nearby restaurant, Avanti of La Jolla.

Richard D. Zimmerman, 41, of San Diego, a chef at The Spot, was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine. All were being questioned by police Thursday night and were to be booked at County Jail downtown or the County Jail at Las Colinas, Police Lt. John Gregory said.
