Local News in Brief : Sex With Students Nets Reseda Teacher 2 Years
A 35-year-old teacher at a Reseda alternative school was sentenced Thursday to two years, eight months in state prison for having sex with two teen-age girls he taught in his class.
Daniel B. Ramos of Van Nuys, who pleaded guilty Feb. 10, had sex with the students, ages 15 and 16, in the classroom after class, at his apartment, in a park and at motels, according to a Probation Department report filed in Van Nuys Superior Court.
Ramos taught at the Valley Alternative School in Reseda for eight years before his arrest June 7, officials at the school said.
He was first charged with eight counts of sexual intercourse with a person under 18 and six counts of oral copulation with a person under 18. Half the offenses occurred in 1982 and the rest in 1985, police said.
Ramos pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual intercourse and two of oral copulation.
He was arrested after one of the victims told her therapist, who told police.
