A teen-age girl riding in the back of a pickup truck was critically injured early Saturday when the truck overturned in Anaheim.
Barbara Fleming, 16, of Garden Grove was taken to the trauma center at UCI Medical Center for treatment of severe head injuries.
According to Anaheim police, the girl was injured when the 1971 Toyota pickup, traveling at a high rate of speed, jumped the curb at 800 S. Sunkist St. and rolled over.
The driver of the truck, a 16-year-old male who has not been identified by police, was taken into custody and later released to his parents. No charges were filed, police said, but the investigation is continuing.
Three other male juveniles, two of whom were also riding in the back of the truck, left the scene of the accident before police arrived, according to Lt. Marc Hedgpath. The three are believed to have sustained minor injuries, he said.
